Brown Recluse Spiders
Brown Recluse Spiders are light-to-dark brown, about 1/3 to 1/2 inch in length, with a violin-shaped white marking on their backs. This marking gives them the nickname "Fiddle Spider." As their name suggests, they are often found in secluded spaces, like under rocks in the outdoors, under sinks, in crawlspaces and in boxes indoors.
Damage
Brown Recluse Spiders are poisonous and while their first instinct is to quickly flee in an encounter, if they're bumped or trapped they can bite. Their venom causes a severe sore, and can lead to illness. In rare cases, Brown Recluse bites have been reported to be fatal. Irregular, gray webs and white, round egg sacs are signs of a Brown Recluse infestation.
Location
They are found primarily throughout the Midwest and Southeast.
