Cockroaches
There are many different types of Cockroaches in the U.S. but the most common is the German Cockroach which can grow to an average length of 1½ inches long. For many, they are considered the number one home pest because they have successfully adapted to almost any human living standard.
Damage
Cockroaches hide in sheltered, dark places during the day and seek food and water at night. They are very good at avoiding light, making them frequently undetectable. They prefer starches, sweets, grease and meat products, but also feed on leather, glue, hair, starch in book bindings, flakes of dried skin or decaying organic matter. Cockroaches carry bacteria and germs and may contaminate food and utensils.
Controlling cockroaches may take a combination of approaches, including good sanitation, baits and insecticide sprays both indoors and out.
