Dollar Spot

Dollar Spot is a fungal disease that appears as small tan blotches with darker brown borders, sometimes in an hourglass shape, on grass blades.  The grass will die in small, circular spots 4 to 12 inches wide. The smaller spots can fuse together into larger areas, reducing a lawn's aesthetic quality and causing a decline in turf vigor. It is most troublesome from early to late summer.

Cultural Solutions

  • Fertilize properly – nitrogen deficient lawns are more susceptible.
  • Water early in the morning so turf can dry by night.
